The church is distracted. When the apostles in the first-century church faced mounting distractions, they found it necessary to give themselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4). We believe there is a need to return to these same foundations of ministry in our day.
With all that is happening in our society, the temptation for the church is to become sidetracked with fighting individual, secondary issues.
The dual conference themes of preaching and prayer reflect the realization that only ministries grounded in the faithful exposition of the Word and upheld by prayer have the power to effect any lasting changes in their hearers.
